He's not just being naiive. Jix is in an area past a lot of security, so it's only fair to assume someone wandering around the halls is supposed to be there. The little device she's carrying around doubles as a map and an anti-security measure.

When I have characters that don't show up for a while, I like to change up their design. With this scientist, I decided to give him his hair back and a beard. The first version was more like Dex from Dexter's Laboratory, the second had more of a bald mad scientist, and this one...I'm seeing kind of an Adam Savage thing going on.

"Those kind of pictures"? I'm getting thoughts of Jonas posing while laying down with a rose in his mouth. I think it has to do with how Jix knew it was a male, but aren't the male dragons bad at hiding their 'third leg'?

It...uh...goes into them when not in use (into like a sheath), but they wear pants to avoid accidental exposure.

it's not even about the super-obvious, so long as she stays in character here. most species have what's called 'sexual dimorphism' where the body grows in different ways depending on one's gender. an experienced specialist (herpetologist entomologist etc.) could easily tell, though not at a glance.
